Electronic Raffle 50/50

In Fall/Winter 2014, Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) launched a pilot program to enhance existing manual 50/50 raffle draws with electronic hand-held mobile devices to help Ontario charities raise more money and to provide larger prizes for raffle players.

The three pilot programs were operated with Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE) Foundation, the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the Jays Care Foundation. Charity volunteers and staff used electronic hand-held mobile devices to sell and record each 50/50 transaction at Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Raptors, Toronto Rock, Ottawa Senators and Toronto Blue Jays home games.

OLG’s pilot 50/50 program with the Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment Foundation, the Ottawa Senators Foundation and the Jays Care Foundation came to an end in August 2016 after raising approximately $5,432,734(*Unaudited) for Foundation charities across Ontario.

We were thrilled with the success of this program. The pilot sites will continue to offer patrons the opportunity to buy 50/50 tickets electronically to win cash prizes while supporting local charities. The program will now be operated under a new AGCO model.
