Checking LOTTO Tickets at Retail
There are three options available to check your LOTTO ticket at retail.
- Use the Ticket Checker to check your ticket on your own and verify if your LOTTO ticket is a winner and the prize amount won.
- Pick up a winning numbers printout from your LOTTO retailer.
- Ask your retailer to check your ticket through the lottery terminal. The retailer will put your LOTTO ticket through the machine. Check the Customer Display Screen. This screen should be facing you and will show you in large characters the amount of your prize, or if you have not won a prize.
- Your retailer will will give you a Customer Receipt which will indicate a winning prize amount or that your ticket is a non-winner.
If you have a winning LOTTO ticket:
Important Note
Whether you have a winning ticket or not, your retailer must return all LOTTO and INSTANT tickets to you along with the corresponding Customer Receipts.
- You will see a winning message on the Customer Display Screen and hear a winning message play from the lottery terminal.
- Your winning prize amount will be printed (or "branded") on the front, left-hand side of your original ticket.
- Your retailer will give you a Customer Receipt which will indicate the winning prize amount.
- The boxed Ticket Number on the receipt should match the Ticket Number on the ticket.
- If you win $5,000 or more, OLG's Support Centre will immediately call you at the retail outlet.
Winning tickets with multiple draws
- If there are draws remaining on your winning LOTTO ticket, you will receive an Exchange Ticket that will print from the lottery terminal. This will be your ticket for the remaining draws.
Claiming your prize
If you do not have a winning LOTTO ticket:
- You will see a non-winning message on the Customer Display Screen and hear a non-winning message play from the lottery terminal.
- A non-winning message will be printed (or "branded") on the front, left-hand side of your original ticket.
- Your retailer will give you a Customer Receipt which will indicate that your ticket is a non-winner.
- The Ticket Number on the receipt should match the Ticket Number on the ticket.
Non-Winning tickets with multiple draws
- If there are draws remaining on your non-winning LOTTO ticket, your retailer will return your non-winning ticket to you along with the corresponding Customer Receipt. This will be your ticket for the remaining draws.
When you present a ticket for validation, all retailers must follow these simple steps:
- Check whether tickets are signed before validating.
- If tickets are not signed, ask the customer to sign them. Retailers cannot validate tickets that are not signed.
- Tear through the bar code of all paid-out tickets, and return all validated tickets, winners and non-winners, to customers along with the corresponding Customer Receipt.
- Keep clutter away from the lottery terminal or INSTANT ticket device and the printer.
- Ensure the lottery Customer Display Screen is visible to the customer at all times.
