Ticker Checker

A Ticket Checker is a device you can use to check your lottery tickets on your own to see if you have won. All LOTTO tickets and INSTANT tickets with a Scratch & Scan symbol* can be checked through the Ticket Checker. INSTANT tickets that do not have the Scratch & Scan symbol* cannot be checked through the Ticket Checker. Ticket Checkers are now installed at all lottery terminal retail outlets in Ontario and can usually be found on the in-store lottery display or on the retail counter.

*Note: BANCO, INSTANT Lottery Game #1520, is the first INSTANT ticket that has a bar code that can be scanned through a Ticket Checker. It will take approximately six to 12 months before all INSTANT tickets have the new bar code. A ticket that can be scanned through a Ticket Checker will clearly have a Scratch & Scan symbol on the left hand side of the front of the ticket. INSTANT tickets that do not have the Scratch & Scan symbol cannot be scanned through a Ticket Checker.

Fact

There are more than 8,900 Ticket Checkers across Ontario.

How to use the Ticket Checker

Place the ticket's bar code, located at the bottom of your ticket, in the bar code scan area with the bar code facing up.
Place the INSTANT ticket's Scratch & Scan bar code in the bar code scan area with the bar code facing up.
  • LOTTO Tickets: Place the ticket's bar code, located at the bottom of your ticket, in the bar code scan area of the Ticket Checker with the bar code facing up.
  • INSTANT Tickets: Scratch the play areas of your INSTANT ticket by following the game instructions. After playing the ticket, completely scratch the latex area containing the Scratch & Scan symbol*, located on the left side of the front of the ticket, to reveal a bar code. Tilt the ticket into the Ticket Checker with the bar code facing up. It is important that the latex is completely removed in order for the ticket to be read by the Ticket Checker.
  • Once the bar code is successfully read, the Ticket Checker display will indicate whether the ticket is a winner or non-winner. If the ticket is a winner, the display will indicate the amount won.
