DEPOSIT QUESTIONS

2. DOES OLG CHARGE ADDITIONAL FEES WHEN I MAKE A DEPOSIT?

OLG doesn’t charge fees for deposits. Any additional fees are charged by your financial institution.

In most cases, credit card deposits made to an internet gaming site such as OLG.ca are treated as cash advances and are therefore subject to the applicable fees.

Other fees may be associated with Visa® Debit, Debit Mastercard and INTERAC® Online transactions as well.

To ensure you know what to expect, we encourage you to review the transaction fee structure followed by your financial institution.

3. WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

You can make a deposit using INTERAC® Online, Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, Visa® or Visa® Debit, from a Canadian financial institution. Not all banks support INTERAC® Online payments, so be sure to check with yours.

4. WHAT CAN I DO IF I’M HAVING A PROBLEM MAKING A DEPOSIT?

First, please note that if you’ve attempted a deposit and it was rejected, you may notice that your Weekly Deposit Limit has still been reduced by the amount of your rejected deposit. This does not mean that your account has been charged; our system simply needs time to update the information.

The update process can take up to approximately 35 minutes, and unless you have reached your Weekly Deposit Limit, you can make another deposit attempt immediately. If you have reached your Weekly Deposit Limit, you can make your deposit again after the update process is complete and your Limit has been reset.

Please read the following tips, which may help you understand why you’re encountering difficulties:

·         Your bank must support INTERAC® Online transactions in order for you to use that deposit method. To see if your bank or credit union support this method, please refer to the Participating Financial Institutions section of the INTERAC® homepage. If your bank does not support INTERAC® Online, check if your card has a Visa or Mastercard symbol.  If it does, please try depositing by Visa Debit, Debit Mastercard or Credit Card instead. Your card issuer may charge a fee, please check with your financial institution for more details.

·         Credit card gift cards are not supported for any OLG.ca transaction.

·         When depositing with a Credit Card, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard, please ensure that the card’s expiry date and CVV are entered correctly. The CVV is the 3-digit number that can be found on the back of your card.

·         For added security, OLG uses Mastercard SecureCode® and Verified by Visa. You will be required to either remember your existing password for these services or register a new password through your credit card provider.

·         Credit cards backed by U.S. financial institutions, most notably MBNA©, CHASE© and Capital One©, do not accept online gambling transactions. Additionally, many retail store-branded credit cards have also been rejecting online gambling transactions. Many are backed by the same U.S. financial institutions mentioned above. If your deposit is rejected, please try a credit card that is not provided by a specific retail store or organization, but rather is issued by a major Canadian bank.

·         When waiting for a confirmation of your deposit, it’s important you do not close the window, click your browser’s ‘back’ button or refresh your page. The process may take several minutes before a confirmation is displayed.

·         Lastly, please only click the deposit button once. Do not double-click the deposit button when making a transaction.

5. CAN I CHANGE MY CREDIT CARD OR METHOD OF PAYMENT?

Yes, you can change to INTERAC® Online, Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, Visa® or Visa® Debit, from a Canadian financial institution. Keep in mind that there are some rules in place for added protection:

·         You can make up to 10 deposits per day.

·         You can change your payment method once per day after making a deposit.

6. WHAT IS 3D SECURE?

3D Secure is an extra layer of security for online transactions. For example, Visa uses Verified by Visa® and Mastercard uses SecureCode®.

7. IS MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION STORED?

Our payment provider stores the credit card information used on OLG. This ensures compliance with Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCI DSS) and helps make the deposit process easier for you.

8. DO I HAVE THE OPTION NOT TO HAVE OLG STORE MY CREDIT CARD INFORMATION?

The moment your credit card is registered, the information is stored to help facilitate future deposits. If you would rather not use a credit card, you can use an INTERAC® Online payment to make a deposit, provided this feature is supported by your personal financial institution.

9. WHAT CURRENCIES DO YOU ACCEPT?

We only accept Canadian currency.

10. ONCE I DEPOSIT MONEY, HOW LONG BEFORE I CAN START PLAYING?

Your funds are available for play on OLG.ca as soon as you make a successful deposit using your selected payment method.

11. WHY WAS MY DEPOSIT NOT SUCCESSFUL?

There could be several reasons, ranging from insufficient funds to the transaction being rejected by your financial institution. Please contact Player Support for assistance. We’ll be happy to help.

Please note: Not all credit card institutions accept online gambling transactions. If yours is rejected, please try a card issued by a major Canadian financial institution.

RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR:

15. WHEN DID YOU START USING RANDOM NUMBER GENERATORS (RNG) INSTEAD OF BALL DRAWS FOR THE NATIONAL GAMES?

The lottery-draw process for LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 was modernized and simplified by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) in May 2019 to offer our players the best gaming and entertainment experience possible.

RNG draws are becoming more common for lottery draws worldwide and are often used for games with multiple draws that require results more quickly.

Draws for WHEEL OF FORTUNE, DAILY GRAND, the Guaranteed Prize draw feature of LOTTO 6/49 and the MAXMILLIONS feature of LOTTO MAX are also conducted using Random Number Generator software. It is also used for the INSTANT win component of POKER LOTTO and MEGADICE.

16. HOW DOES THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR METHOD WORK?

The ILC RNG system uses a proprietary algorithm to generate random numbers. The RNG used is independently tested and certified for its effectiveness in generating random results and its integrity. A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed by external auditors (Grant Thornton LLP).An additional external auditor performs a parallel draw from a separate geographical location (Deloitte).

17. HOW SECURE ARE RNG DRAWS?

Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) reviewed and tested the Random Number Generation (RNG) software that is used to conduct the RNG components of the LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY GRAND games and certifies that the RNG software exhibits random behavior and is suitable for the application of the lottery draws stated.

A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed (Grant Thornton LLP) and verified (Deloitte), by two external auditors, located in two separate geographical locations.

18. WHO IS THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIER FOR THE RNG TECHNOLOGY?

Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) reviewed and tested the RNG software that is used to conduct components of LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY GRAND draws. GLI certifies that the RNG software exhibits random behavior.

19. ARE YOU ABLE TO WATCH RNG DRAWS? ARE THEY AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE?

Animated videos depicting the draw results for LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49 and DAILY GRAND are available to watch on OLG.ca after the draw takes place.

20. WHY AREN’T THE ENCORE NUMBERS INCLUDED AT THE END OF THE NEW ANIMATED DRAW VIDEOS?

These new videos are in a different format than the previous draw videos. In the past OLG would add the ENCORE draw results to the video once received from ILC. With this new format, we are unable to edit the video without having the ENCORE results appear out of place. Customers can still watch ENCORE draw videos and see ENCORE results by visiting the ENCORE page of OLG.ca.

CHANGES AS OF OCTOBER 23, 2020

1. WHAT ARE THE GAME CONDITIONS CHANGES?

When the amount of the 7/7 ‘main’ pool for any given Lotto Max draw equals or exceeds $50,000,000, and a minimum number of Maxmillions prizes has been set for that draw, any Maxmillions prizes won will be funded by the 7/7 ‘main’ pool (prior to utilizing funding from the ILC MAXMILLIONS funding) when the 7/7 ‘main’ Lotto Max jackpot isn’t won.

2. WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG AFTER THE GAME ENHANCEMENT TO MAKE THIS CHANGE?

We wanted to observe any changes in sales trends as a result of the increase to two Lotto Max draws per week for at least one year prior to making any funding structure changes to the game. These changes allow for greater funding flexibility to pay out Maxmillions prizes.

3. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THESE CHANGES?

These changes are being made to allow for greater funding flexibility, following the May 2019 introduction of a second Lotto Max draw per week and, as a result, the increased frequency of jackpots of $50 million or higher and Maxmillions prizes. These game conditions changes will help ensure the long-term viability of the game, while providing jackpots and Maxmillions prizes in line with those that our players are familiar with, and expect.

Guaranteed Prize Draw

1. WHAT IS THE $1 MILLION GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW?

The $1 million Guaranteed Prize Draw offers LOTTO 6/49 players a chance to win $1 million from an extra selection on each ticket. By drawing only from selections issued, there will always be a winning selection for the Guaranteed Prize Draw. This draw is included in every $3 LOTTO 6/49 play at no extra cost.

2. WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING THE $1 MILLION GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW?

The odds for the Guaranteed Prize Draw are determined for each draw by the total number of selections issued across Canada. For example, if 5 million LOTTO 6/49 plays are issued, there would be 5 million selections for the $1 million Guaranteed Prize Draw, which means the odds of any one selection being drawn would be 1 in 5 million.

3. CAN YOU GUARANTEE THAT THE $1 MILLION PRIZE WILL ALWAYS BE AWARDED?

No. A prize can only be awarded after a winning ticket is presented for validation and approved for payment. While most lottery prizes are claimed by customers – especially when the prize is $1 million or more – there is always some possibility that a winning ticket might not be presented for payment or that the prize claim is not approved.

4. WHY DOES MY GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW SELECTION ALWAYS START WITH A 4 OR A 5?

The first digit of the Guaranteed Prize Draw selection identifies the region where the ticket was issued. All OLG selections begin with a 4 or 5, indicating that the ticket was issued in Ontario. No two Guaranteed Prize Draw selections are the same for any given draw.

5. WHY DOES MY GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW SELECTION ALWAYS END IN “01”?

The last two digits of your Guaranteed Prize Draw selection identify the number of selections purchased on a ticket. For example, a customer who purchases a single LOTTO 6/49 play always has a Guaranteed Prize Draw number ending in “01.”  If the ticket contains multiple plays, the player receives multiple Guaranteed Prize Draw selections – the first eight digits are the same for all selections; the two-digit number following the hyphen starts at 01 and increases by one for each additional selection on the ticket.

6. WHY CAN'T I CHOOSE MY OWN GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW SELECTION?

To ensure there is only one winning Guaranteed Prize Draw selection, every selection must be unique.  If customers were to choose their own selections, there would always be the possibility that two players could have the same winning Guaranteed Prize Draw selection, and therefore have to split the $1 million prize.

7. I PURCHASED MULTIPLE LOTTO 6/49 PLAYS ON THE SAME TICKET, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE I’VE ONLY GOT TWO GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW SELECTIONS. WHY ARE THERE NOT MORE SELECTIONS FOR THE GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW?

Whenever a LOTTO 6/49 ticket is issued with three or more plays, the Guaranteed Prize Draw selections appear as a range.

For example, if you purchased a 5-number combination, you receive 44 LOTTO 6/49 regular selections and 44 Guaranteed Prize Draw Selections.

The Guaranteed Prize Draw selections on your ticket would appear as:

FROM:            12345678-01

TO:                12345678-44

8. DO I GET A DIFFERENT GUARANTEED PRIZE DRAW SELECTION FOR EACH DRAW INCLUDED IN AN ADVANCE PLAY PURCHASE?

Same as with the regular selections for the main draw, with an Advance Play purchase you will have the same Guaranteed Prize Draw selections entered into each Guaranteed Prize Draw that is included in your Advance Play purchase.  Each draw is an independent, random draw and so there is no effect on your odds of winning the Guaranteed Prize Draw – the odds on each draw are always dependent on the number of selections issued for that draw.

9 HOW ARE LOTTO 6/49 DRAWS CONDUCTED?

LOTTO 6/49 draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday and are conducted using Random Number Generator (RNG) technology that has been independently tested and certified by an internationally recognized and accredited tester. The Guaranteed Prize Draw is also conducted using RNG.

2. HOW DOES THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR METHOD WORK?

The ILC RNG system uses a proprietary algorithm to generate random numbers. The RNG used is independently tested and certified for its effectiveness in generating random results and its integrity. A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed by external auditors (Grant Thornton LLP). An additional external auditor performs a parallel draw from a separate geographical location (Deloitte).

19. WHAT HAPPENS IF MORE THAN ONE SELECTION WINS THE TOP OR SECOND PRIZE ON A DRAW?

The annuity option won’t be available to multiple winners. With WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO, players can win INSTANTLY while watching the animated spin of the wheel on the customer display unit at retail and also have a chance to win with the nightly Lotto Word Draw, all for $2. Each $2 Quick Pick randomly generates one animated "spin" of the INSTANT Prize Wheel. If the spin stops on a winning wheel sector, the player INSTANTLY wins the corresponding prize. Players can win up to $10,000 on the INSTANT game. Each $2 Quick Pick also gives players a chance to win in the nightly Lotto Word Draw. Players can win up to $100,000 on the lotto portion by matching three or more Lotto Words on their ticket with the six Lotto Words drawn (from a pool of 39) nightly. The list of 39 words for the Lotto Word Draw may change from time to time and will always fall into a general category. For example, the "Canadian Things" category includes the words "hockey," "maple" and "toque." Both the INSTANT and lotto portions of the game have their own distinct prize structure.

2. HOW IS WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO PLAYED AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO can be purchased at any OLG retailer for $2. Each $2 Quick Pick randomly generates one animated "spin" of the INSTANT Prize Wheel on the customer display unit. Both the INSTANT and lotto portions of the game have their own distinct prize structure. The WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO Word Draw is conducted by a random number generator that selects six winning Lotto Words from a pool of thirty-nine in place of traditional lottery numbers. You must pay your retailer before your ticket can be printed.

3. WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING?

The overall odds of winning any prize (INSTANT or lotto) with WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO are 1 in 2.5. The overall odds of winning a prize on the INSTANT win game are 1 in 2.8 and the overall odds of winning the top INSTANT prize of $10,000 are 1 in 296,602.1. The overall odds of winning a prize on the nightly Lotto Word Draw are 1 in 27.83 and the odds of winning the top prize of $100,000 on the Lotto Word Draw are 1 in 3,262,623.

4. IS MY SPIN VALID FOR THE NIGHTLY DRAW AS WELL?

No. Your spin of the INSTANT Prize Wheel is valid only for the INSTANT portion of the WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO game. To win on the Lotto Word Draw portion of the ticket, you must match three or more Lotto Words printed below the wheel on your ticket with the Lotto Words drawn nightly. If you match the correct number of Lotto Words for one of the draw prize categories, you win the corresponding prize as per the prize structure. Players can win in only one lotto prize category per draw.

5. WHY IS THE INSTANT WIN PAYOUT HIGHER THAN THE LOTTO WIN PAYOUT?

The INSTANT win portion of WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO offers players more ways to win. WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO is essentially two games in one and while each has its own individual payout, please remember the overall payout for the game is approximately 58.68 per cent.

6. WHY DO YOU USE LOTTO WORDS FOR THE NIGHTLY LOTTO WORD DRAW INSTEAD OF NUMBERS LIKE MOST GAMES?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO is a different game with a different way to play than other lotteries. We are always looking for ways to improve our games and enhance the player experience. As the game's theme is based on the popular television game show that uses word puzzles, Lotto Words were selected to create winning combinations instead of numbers. This is similar to POKER LOTTO, which uses card symbols instead of numbers for the nightly draw.

7. HOW ARE THE LOTTO WORD CATEGORIES AND WORDS THAT YOU USE FOR WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO CHOSEN?

The Lotto Word categories were chosen based on consumer preference identified in research and many reference categories used on the actual game show.

8. DOES THE LENGTH OF THE LOTTO WORDS ON MY TICKET IN THE POOL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE ODDS OF WINNING?

No. Each word in the pool has an equal chance of 1 in 39 of being drawn.

9. IS THE $100,000 TOP PRIZE ON THE LOTTO WORD DRAW SHARED AMONG WINNING TICKETS?

Prizes on the draw portion of WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO are for set amounts and are not divided among all the winners in a prize category. There is an overall limit of $2 million that can be won on any given draw. In the unlikely event that the daily draw limit of $2 million is exceeded, prizes for all winners would be proportionally reduced.

10. WHY IS THE LOTTO WORD DRAW CONDUCTED USING RNG?

The words in any given category vary in length from two to 10 letters. It would be difficult to print longer words like "toboggan" and "snowmobile" in a font large enough to be read clearly while still fitting on the lotto ball. Also, similar words in a category like "holly" and "jolly" could be confused for each other depending on the size of font and print clarity. The list of 39 words may change from time to time as well and using a random number generator to conduct the draws will help to minimize any chance for confusion regarding the winning Lotto Words.

11. CAN I SELECT MY OWN WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO WORDS?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO can be played only by Quick Pick. There are no selection slips for this game. There is also no repurchase option on WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO.

12. CAN PLAYERS PURCHASE ENCORE WITH THEIR WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO TICKETS?

ENCORE is not available for purchase with WHEEL OF FORTUNE®.

13. WHY ISN'T ENCORE AVAILABLE WITH WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO?

ENCORE is not available for any OLG Watch N' Win games including POKER LOTTO and MEGADICE LOTTO.

14. WHY CAN I BUY ONLY ONE PLAY PER TICKET?

Watch N' Win games are limited to an eight-second animation that appears on the screen. Unlike POKER LOTTO and MEGADICE LOTTO where multiple hands and rolls can be displayed in the animation, only one INSTANT Prize Wheel spin can be shown at a time.

15. IS ADVANCE PLAY AVAILABLE ON WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO?

Advance Play is not available on WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO. Customers can play only one draw at a time.

16. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO TICKET BEFORE IT IS GIVEN TO ME?

As WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO features an INSTANT win component, customers must pay for each ticket before the retailer can process the transaction and give the ticket to the customer.

17. CAN I CANCEL MY TICKET IF I DON'T WANT IT ANYMORE?

As WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO offers customers a chance to win INSTANTLY, retailers are not able to cancel a ticket once it has been paid for and printed out of the terminal.

***Matching of the Early Bird Number

15. WHY HAVE THE ODDS INCREASED FOR MATCHING 3 OF 6 NUMBERS AND FOR MATCHING 4 OF 6 NUMBERS?

The odds of winning the 3/6 and 4/6 prize categories have increased slightly because the new LOTTARIO offers new prize categories for matching 3/6 and 4/6 plus the Bonus number. Some selections matching 3/6 or 4/6 will also match the Bonus number and win the higher prize, which will result in slightly fewer tickets matching only 3/6 or 4/6 and therefore creating slightly higher odds. The new LOTTARIO offers new prizes increasing the overall odds of winning.

16. HOW LONG DO I HAVE TO CLAIM MY PRIZE?

LOTTARIO prizes must be claimed within one year of the draw date.

More details about our PICK-4 LOTTO.

1. WHAT IS PICK-4?

PICK-4 is a daily draw lottery game that gives players a chance to play four of their favourite numbers, ranging from 0 to 9, either by Straight Play or Box Play.

2. HOW MUCH DOES A PICK-4 TICKET COST AND HOW DO YOU PLAY?

PICK-4 tickets cost $1 for each four number combination. Players can select any four-digit number from 0000 to 9999 by selection slip or by asking for a QUICK PICK.

3. WHAT IS STRAIGHT PLAY AND BOX PLAY?

Straight Play is matching all four digits in the exact order (e.g. 1234). A number with the same 4 digits (e.g. 2222) can be played only as a Straight Play. For Box Play, the digits you select determine which Box Play prize category you are eligible for (4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way or 24-Way Box Play) Only one Box Play type will apply per draw. Box Play can be won four different ways:

4 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where 3 of the digits are the same (e.g. 1112)
6 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where two sets of digits are the same (e.g. 1122)
12 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where 2 of the digits are the same (e.g. 1123)
24 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where all 4 digits are different (eg.1234)

4. HOW DOES BOX PLAY WORK?

Box Play gives players the chance to match their four favourite numbers, or QUICK PICK selections, in many ways. For example, if three of the four digits played are the same (eg.1112), the numbers can be combined in four unique ways (eg.1112, 1121, 1211, 2111) This creates a 4-Way Box Play. Similarly, a 6-Way Box Play (2 sets of digits the same e.g. 1122), combines the numbers in six unique ways, a 12-Way Box Play (2 digits the same e.g. 1123) combines the numbers in twelve unique ways and a 24 Way Box Play (4 different digits e.g. 1234) combines the numbers in 24 unique ways. The fewer the possible number of combinations, the greater the prize. Only one Box Play type applies per draw (Refer to PICK-4 Fact Sheet prize structure for more information.)

Wagering will continue to be available for all other Box Play combinations of the suspended number, provided said numbers have not individually exceeded the $1 million total liability limit for Box Play and Straight Play.

14. HOW CAN I WATCH THE DRAWS?

Visit the HIT OR MISS page on OLG.ca to see the countdown to the next draw. Select Watch Current Draw and when the countdown is complete, the draw animation will begin. You may also select “PLAY MY TICKET” to enter in your ticket number or draw number to view your specific draw(s).

Draw videos are available for one year from the draw date.

15. WHEN IS THE CUT-OFF TIME TO BUY TICKETS FOR A DRAW?

The cut-off time to purchase tickets for a particular draw is at the 59 second mark of the minute prior to the draw occurring. For example, a draw occurring at 10 p.m. would have a cut-off time of 9:59:59 p.m.

16. HOW ARE THESE DRAWS CONDUCTED?

The HIT OR MISS draws are conducted using a Random Number Generator (RNG) at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.

17. HOW DO I FIND HIT OR MISS WINNING NUMBERS?

WEB

Visit the HIT OR MISS page on OLG.ca and choose “SEE ALL NUMBERS.” Each draw has a corresponding number that is specified on your HIT OR MISS ticket. If you have purchased a ticket with two or more draws, your draw numbers will be displayed as a range. Enter the first draw number and the total number of draws on your ticket and click “CHECK.” The winning numbers for all draws associated with your ticket will be displayed.

APP

You can scan your ticket with the OLG Lottery App which will launch your draw animations. If you have a single draw ticket, choose “SKIP TO RESULTS” to see your winning numbers. If you have a multi-draw ticket, choose “SEE WINNING TALLY” to bypass the draw animations and see the winning numbers for all completed draws on your ticket.

18. WHAT HAPPENS IF MORE THAN ONE TICKET HAS ZERO OR 12 MATCHING NUMBERS FOR A PARTICULAR DRAW?

If more than one ticket for a particular draw has won the top prize for matching either zero or 12 numbers, then each ticket will be entitled to the amount of the top prize up to a maximum of six top prizes.

If the total prize liability for the “Match 12 of 12” and “Match 0 of 12” categories in a single draw exceeds $1.5 million (more than six top prizes), the prize value of each ticket for these categories will be equally reduced until the total aggregate payout of these prizes is limited to $1.5 million. Under no circumstance would a top prize winner be paid less than five hundred and one dollars ($501).

To monitor and control potential prize payout liability, HIT OR MISS tickets winning the top prize of $250,000 cannot be validated or processed until the next day.

19. DO I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD A DIFFERENT OLG APP TO VIEW HIT OR MISS DRAWS?

No. HIT OR MISS draws can be viewed on your smartphone in the OLG Lottery App.

The OLG Lottery App is available as a free download in the App Store on iPhones and the Google Play Store on Android smartphones. Please make sure the app has been updated to the most recent version in order to view the HIT OR MISS draws.

20. I ALREADY HAVE THE LOTTERY APP ON MY PHONE. WHY ISN’T HIT OR MISS APPEARING?

About OLG

PlaySmart is OLG’s gambling education and support program, providing players with facts about the games they play, tips to keep gambling fun, and support resources if it’s not. Learn more at PlaySmart.ca.

2. HOW IS OLG COMMITTED TO GAMBLING EDUCATION AND SUPPORT SERVICES?

OLG wants its players to make informed choices when gambling. Through PlaySmart, we aim to teach players how our games work and encourage positive play habits like setting time and money budgets.

For those with concerns about their gambling, we also provide access to free support resources and the ability to self-exclude from gambling.

3. HOW DOES OLG HELP ME MANAGE MY GAMBLING?

OLG features My PlaySmart Tools for setting personal time and money budgets, understanding your play habits, and taking breaks from playing online.

Learn more about My PlaySmart Tools.

4. WHAT SAFEGUARDS DO YOU HAVE TO HELP PREVENT UNDERAGE PEOPLE FROM PLAYING?

OLG takes a strong stance against underage gambling. Our strict identity verification process helps ensure that registration is restricted to eligible adults living in Ontario.

Visit the YMCA’s Youth Gambling Awareness Program website for information on preventing underage access, as well as warning signs of youth gambling and support for parents.

5. WHAT IS OLG’S POLICY REGARDING ALCOHOL?

OLG requires that players acknowledge upon login that they are not under the influence of alcohol or any other substance that may impair their judgment. This is to help ensure that players are able to make clear decisions so that their gambling remains safe and fun.

If you are concerned that alcohol use is affecting your gambling behaviour or the behaviour of someone you know, please contact OLG Player Support via the Contact Us page. If you disclose to OLG that you are intoxicated or impaired, we will log you out of your account and encourage you to wait before returning to gamble on OLG.

6. WHAT IS A 7-Day DEPOSIT LIMIT?

Your 7-Day Deposit Limit helps you set and stick to your play budget by limiting how much you can deposit over a rolling 7-day period. Setting your deposit limit will not automatically add funds to your account. Increases to your 7-Day Deposit Limit will go into effect seven days after the change is made. Decreases are effective immediately.

7. DO I HAVE TO SET A 7-Day DEPOSIT LIMIT?

Setting your 7-Day Deposit Limit is mandatory on OLG.ca and helps you keep gambling fun by avoiding overspending. Set your limit based on how much you can comfortably afford to spend on gambling each week as a form entertainment.

8. WHAT ARE CASINO LOSS LIMITS AND HOW ARE THEY CALCULATED?

Your Casino Loss Limit is the maximum amount you can lose from your starting balance in a chosen time period (daily, weekly or monthly). This amount refers to your net loss, calculated after winnings. Once the Casino Loss Limit is reached, you can no longer gamble for real money during the specified period. OLG will not allow you to make a wager that could potentially exceed your Loss Limit. Casino Loss Limits are checked on every bet including subsequent bets in a game round. For example, if a split or double in Blackjack could exceed your loss limit, you will not be able to place the bet. Lottery product purchases do not count towards this Limit.

Here’s an example: You begin the day with $20 cash in your account and have set yourself a $10 Daily Loss Limit. Through the course of play, you win $5, making the total cash amount in your account $25. You then lose $10, giving you total cash balance of $15. Your net loss for the day is still only $5, so you can continue playing. If your next wager results in a further loss of $5, you will have reached a net loss of $10, which is your Daily Loss Limit, and you won’t be able to continue.

Any funds that you deposit during the time period are not counted towards this net, so depositing more money isn’t going to stop you from hitting your Casino Loss Limit. Increases in Casino Loss Limits go into effect seven days after the change is made. Decreases are effective immediately.

If a wager is voided and returned to your Player Account, it may allow you to exceed a Casino Loss Limit (or Lottery Spend Limit) in the amount of the returned wager.

9. WHAT IS A LOTTERY PURCHASE LIMIT?

Setting your Lottery Purchase Limit helps you set and stick to your play budget by limiting how much you can spend (daily, weekly, or monthly) on lottery products.

If the limit is increased, the original limit stands until the end of the ‘cooling off’ period and every time this limit is increased the ‘cooling off’ period is extended by an additional 7 days. Decreasing your Limits will take effect immediately.

10. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A 7-Day DEPOSIT LIMIT AND A CASINO LOSS LIMIT?

Your 7-Day Deposit Limit is the maximum amount that you can deposit into your OLG account each week. It’s an amount you set yourself, and you don’t need to deposit the full amount each week unless you want to. Your Casino Loss Limit is the highest amount that you’re willing to lose during a specific period (daily, weekly, monthly).

11. WHAT IS A PLAYING TIME REMINDER?

A Playing Time reminder allows you to set a reminder for a self-determined amount of time, that will notify you when you’ve spent that amount of time playing casino games on OLG.ca. It can be easy to lose track of time when you’re having fun, and a Playing Time Reminder can provide a helpful in-game prompt.

Your Playing Time will begin counting down when you start the first casino game of your session, and continues whether you start a new game, or simply view web pages. In other words, the Playing Time does not pause when you exit a game.

Although the time limit for a Playing Time Reminder will continue even if you’ve exited a casino game, you typically will not receive a notification that the timer has elapsed while you are outside a casino game or if you subsequently start a new casino game after the timer has elapsed.

Some casino games will provide you a prompt retroactively, but not all. To receive your Playing Time Reminder, you must be in a game when you reach your set time. Once received, you can decide to stop playing or continue.

12. HOW ARE TIME FRAMES CALCULATED IN MY PLAY CUSTOMIZER?

My Play Customizer allows you to set your Daily, Weekly and Monthly Lottery Purchase Limit, Daily, Weekly and Monthly Casino Loss Limit, and 7-Day Deposit Limit. For the purpose of the Lottery Purchase and Casino Loss Limits, a day is 12:00 AM to 11:59:59 PM. Weekly and monthly durations refer to calendar weeks (Monday to Sunday) and calendar months. For the 7-Day Deposit Limit, the limit is based on a rolling 7-day period, so that you can never deposit more than your limit within a 168-hour time period.

The Playing Time Reminder is calculated over the course of a single login session—from the time you first launch a casino game, until you log out.

13. WHAT IS MY PLAY HISTORY?

My Play History provides you with information about your play patterns and behaviours to identify any habits that might be affecting your fun. This way, you can recognize changes in your play that might indicate that you’re at higher risk for developing a gambling problem.

We encourage you to take the My Play Profile Quiz within My PlaySmart Tools to reveal your level of gambling risk. It’s a great way to help understand your Risk Profile.

14. WHAT ARE my PLAY BREAKS?

A Play Break is a time period that you choose in which you’ll be unable to play casino games, purchase lottery products or deposit funds into your account. Play Breaks can range in duration from one day to three months.

While on a Play Break, you will not be able to log in or access any part of your account. Any lottery subscriptions and marketing emails will be temporarily paused.

15. WHAT IS SELF-EXCLUSION?

Self-Exclusion is a voluntary program that provides you with the opportunity to stop gambling on OLG for a length of time that you choose (six months to indefinite). If you participate, you commit to avoid logging on to OLG.ca for the duration of your Self-Exclusion term. When you take this step, your contact information is removed from all OLG marketing lists and any cash balance in your OLG.ca account is returned to you.

If you opt to self-exclude, it’s because you feel that it’s no longer in your best interest to keep gambling. More information about OLG’s program can be found on the Self-Exclusion page.

16. DOES OLG SELF-EXCLUSION APPLY AUTOMATICALLY TO LAND-BASED SLOTS AND CASINOS IN ONTARIO?

No, it doesn’t. OLG.ca’s Self-Exclusion program applies to all of its games, including lottery, offered on OLG. If you’re currently self-excluded from OLG casino and slots gambling, you are ineligible to register or play on OLG. However, if you register for Self-Exclusion from OLG, you will not automatically be self-excluded from OLG slots and casinos in Ontario.

If you wish to register for land-based Self-Exclusion you can find more information here or by contacting Player Support 24/7 by telephone at 1 855 978 7529.

17. WHO CAN I CONTACT IF I’M WORRIED ABOUT MY GAMBLING?

If you’d like to talk with someone immediately for support with gambling issues, call CONNEXONTARIO at 1-866-531-2600 or visit www.connexontario.ca to chat online 24/7.
