7.
My deposit failed an identity verification and now I cannot deposit. Why did this happen?

In order to meet Canadian anti-money laundering and terrorist financing legislation, we are required to conduct identity verification that meet the regulations enforced by FINTRAC for all deposits valued at $3,000 or greater when the Player has not already been verified.  These deposits trigger an electronic identity check and depending on the result, the deposit either continues forward or it is stopped.

The deposit can be stopped for one of two reasons.

First, if the verification system is down, all deposits of $3,000 or greater cannot proceed until the verification have been completed.

Second, if the identity verification result is ‘failed’, further deposits of any value are prohibited until the identity can be verified.

Since the electronic check failed, we now have to identity you, using copies of identification and supporting documentation.

8.
My deposit failed. Now it says to submit documents. What do I do?

To have your information verified manually, we require copies or pictures of documents to be uploaded.  We require 2 documents.  One that includes your Name and Date of Birth at a minimum, and another that includes your Name and Address.  Acceptable documents include:

Name and Date of Birth

(Must be valid)

Name and Address

  • Ontario Driver’s License
  • Ontario Photo Card
  • Canadian Passport
  • Certificate of Indian Status (Canada)
  • Canadian Firearms license
  • Canadian Citizenship Card
  • Birth Certificate

  • Bank Statement (within 2 months)
  • Phone bill (within 2 months)
  • Cable or Internet bill (within 2 months)

DEPOSIT QUESTIONS

2. DOES OLG CHARGE ADDITIONAL FEES WHEN I MAKE A DEPOSIT?

OLG doesn’t charge fees for deposits. Any additional fees are charged by your financial institution.

In most cases, credit card deposits made to an internet gaming site such as OLG.ca are treated as cash advances and are therefore subject to the applicable fees.

Other fees may be associated with Visa® Debit and Debit Mastercard transactions as well.

To ensure you know what to expect, we encourage you to review the transaction fee structure followed by your financial institution.

3. WHAT PAYMENT METHODS DO YOU ACCEPT?

You can make a deposit using Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, Visa® Visa® Debit and American Express from a Canadian financial institution. Or you can make an INTERAC e-Transfer ® to deposit directly from your bank account.

4. WHAT CAN I DO IF I’M HAVING A PROBLEM MAKING A DEPOSIT?

First, please note that if you’ve attempted a deposit and it was rejected, you may notice that your Deposit Limit(s)  has still been reduced by the amount of your rejected deposit. This does not mean that your account has been charged; our system simply needs time to update the information.

The update process can take up to approximately 35 minutes, and unless you have reached your Deposit Limit(s), you can make another deposit attempt immediately. If you have reached your Deposit Limit(s), you can make your deposit again after the update process is complete and your Limit has been reset.

Please read the following tips, which may help you understand why you’re encountering difficulties:

  • Credit card gift cards are not supported for any OLG.ca transaction.
  • When depositing with a Credit Card, Visa Debit or Debit Mastercard, please ensure that the card’s expiry date and CVV are entered correctly. The CVV is the 3-digit number that can be found on the back of your card. If you’re using an American Express credit card, the CVV is 4 digits on the front of the card.
  • For deposits using INTERAC e-Transfer®, depending on your financial institution, deposits might take up to 24 hours to appear in your account. You can check your transaction history or wallet for your updated balance.
  • For added security, OLG uses Mastercard SecureCode® and Verified by Visa, and SafeKey ® by American Express. You will be required to either remember your existing password for these services or register a new password through your credit card provider.
  • Credit cards backed by U.S. financial institutions, most notably MBNA©, CHASE© and Capital One©, do not accept online gambling transactions. Additionally, many retail store-branded credit cards have also been rejecting online gambling transactions. Many are backed by the same U.S. financial institutions mentioned above. If your deposit is rejected, please try a credit card that is not provided by a specific retail store or organization, but rather is issued by a major Canadian bank.
  • When waiting for a confirmation of your deposit, it’s important you do not close the window, click your browser’s ‘back’ button or refresh your page. The process may take several minutes before a confirmation is displayed.
  • Lastly, please only click the deposit button once. Do not double-click the deposit button when making a transaction.

5. CAN I CHANGE MY CREDIT CARD OR METHOD OF PAYMENT?

Yes, you can change to Mastercard, Debit Mastercard, Visa® Debit and American Express from a Canadian financial institution or switch to INTERAC e-Transfer ® to make a deposit from your banking account.

Keep in mind that there are some rules in place for added protection:

  • You can make up to 10 deposits per day.
  • You can change your payment method once per day after making a deposit.
  • If you have $1000 or more in your cash wallet, you'll be unable to switch your existing payment method until the balance drops to less than $1000.

1. WHAT IS A DEPOSIT LIMIT?

Your Deposit Limit helps you set and stick to your play budget by limiting how much you can deposit over a rolling day, week, or month’s worth of time. Setting your deposit limit will not automatically add funds to your account. Increases to your Deposit Limit will go into effect  seven (7) days after the change is made. Decreases are effective  immediately.

2. DO I HAVE TO SET A DEPOSIT LIMIT?

Setting your Deposit Limit is optional on OLG.ca and helps you keep gambling fun by avoiding overspending. Set your limit based on how much you can comfortably afford to spend on gambling daily, weekly and/or monthly as a form entertainment.

3. WHAT ARE CASINO LOSS LIMITS AND HOW ARE THEY CALCULATED?

Your Casino Loss Limit is the maximum amount you can lose from your starting cash balance plus any deposits in a chosen set time period (daily, weekly or monthly).

Your starting cash balance refers to your cash balance at the times outlined below.

Starting Cash Balance Times for Loss Limits.

Daily: 12:00 AM of the same day

Weekly: 12:00 AM Monday of the same week

Monthly: 12:00 AM, the first day of the same month

Casino Loss Limit refers to your net loss, calculated after winnings. No matter how much you win before or after setting the Loss Limit, within the selected Loss Limit time period, the Loss Limit only applies to your balance at the start of the specified time period you set. This means that the value of winnings lost during play does not count towards your loss limit.

This lets you manage your maximum “out of pocket” spend within that period and resets at the end of it. Keep in mind, if you deposit money, then it will be added to your starting balance for the Loss Limit.

This tool will not allow you to make a wager that could exceed your Loss Limit. Casino Loss Limits are checked on every bet including subsequent bets in a game round. For example, if a split or double in Blackjack could exceed your Loss Limit, you will not be able to place that bet. Lottery product purchases do not count towards your Loss Limit.

Example 1: Hitting Your Loss Limit

You begin the day (12:00 AM) with $20 cash in your account and have set a $10 Daily Loss Limit. Through the course of play, you win $5, making the total cash amount in your account $25. You then lose $10, giving you a total cash balance of $15. Your net loss for the day is still only $5 (i.e. the $20 starting balance minus your $15 current balance), so you can continue playing.

The casino loss limit protects your out of pocket spend but this does not extend your winnings. If your next wager results in a further loss of $5, you will have reached a net loss of $10, which is your Daily Loss Limit, and you won’t be able to continue.

Your Loss Limit will reset at the end of the chosen time period. In this example, it resets at 12am the following day.

Example 2: Setting a Loss Limit in the Middle of Your Selected Time Period

You begin the day (12:00 AM) with $20 cash in your account. Later in the day, after having won $10 (bringing your balance to $30), you then set a $10 Daily Loss Limit. You go on to lose $10 the same day (bringing your balance back to $20).

At this point, your Loss Limit won’t be triggered. While you have lost $10, and your Daily Loss Limit is $10, your Daily Loss Limit is only reached when you are $10 below your starting cash balance for the day (i.e. $20). If your next wager that same day results in a further loss of $10, only then would the Loss Limit come into play, as you would have lost $10 from your initial balance of $20, leaving you with a balance of $10 in your account.

Example 3: Depositing Money After You Set Your Loss Limit

You begin the day (12:00 AM) with $20 cash in your account and have set a $10 Daily Loss Limit. Later in the day, you deposit $80 so that your total balance becomes $100. If, through the course of play, you lose $10 (leaving you with a total of $90), your Daily Loss Limit will still be reached. Even though your starting cash balance was $20, by making your new balance $100 via a deposit, the Daily Loss Limit of $10 will then apply to that new balance (i.e. $100) after your deposit. A Loss Limit protects you from losing more money out of pocket than you’re willing to. Whether it’s your starting cash balance or your balance after depositing more money, the Loss Limit applies.

In other words, depositing money in your account can create a scenario wherein a Loss Limit is triggered even though your balance exceeds your starting cash balance.

Example 3a: Depositing Money After You Set Your Loss Limit

You begin the day (12:00 AM) with $20 cash in your account and have set a $100 Daily Loss Limit. With a starting cash balance of $20, you would be unable to reach your Loss Limit before running out of cash. However, if you deposit $80 (i.e. bringing your balance to $100), you’d be able to play until you hit your Loss Limit of $100 (leaving your balance at $0).

Example 4: Decreasing Your Loss Limit

Note: Increases in Casino Loss Limits go into effect seven days after the change is made. Decreases are effective immediately. This means effective as of the starting balance of the current time period.

You begin the day (12:00 AM) with $100 cash in your account. You set a $20 Daily Loss Limit. Through the course of play you lose $10, leaving you with $90. You change (decrease) your Daily Loss Limit to $15. If your next wager results in a further $5 loss (leaving you with $85), your Loss Limit will be activated.

Although initially you were able to lose $20 from your starting balance of $100 (the Loss Limit being triggered at $80), once you changed your Loss Limit to $15, it was initiated once your balance hit $85.

If a wager is voided and returned to your Player Account, it may allow you to exceed a Casino Loss Limit (or Lottery Spend Limit) in the amount of the returned wager.

4. WHAT IS A CASINO SPEND LIMIT?

Your Casino Spend Limit lets you set a maximum spend limit on OLG.ca casino games for daily, weekly or monthly periods. Casino Spend Limits apply to every bet including subsequent bets within a round of play. For example, if making a "double down” bet in Blackjack would exceed your spend limit, you will not be able to place that bet.

If the limit is increased, the original limit stands until the end of the ‘cooling off’ period and every time this limit is increased the ‘cooling off’ period is extended by an additional 7 days. Decreasing your Limits will take effect immediately.

Here’s an example: You begin the day with a $20 Daily Casino Spend Limit and have spent $15 so far playing casino games. You decide to play a hand of Blackjack and bet $5. After the cards are dealt, you decide to double down based on your hand. Unfortunately, you can’t as your total wager would be $10 but you only have $5 left to spend on Casino games.

5. WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CASINO SPEND LIMIT AND A CASINO LOSS LIMIT?

Casino Spend Limit is a simple budgeting tool that prevents you from exceeding your set spending limits. This limit is based on how much you spend on Casino games from your Cash Wallet in a daily, weekly or monthly time period. Spending your Bonus Funds does not count towards your Spend Limit.

Casino Loss Limits, on the other hand, do not count your lost winnings in the same way.  If you lose winnings that were won within the relevant Loss Limit time period (daily, weekly or monthly), it does not count against that Loss Limit. It’s only once you lose below your starting Cash balance for the time period in question, that your losses start counting against your Loss Limit. Spending your Bonus Funds also does not count towards your Loss Limit.

So, if you want to base your casino budget on spending any amount, choose a Casino Spend Limit. If you don’t want to count your lost winnings as actual losses, choose a Casino Loss Limit.

6. WHAT IS A LOTTERY PURCHASE LIMIT?

Your Lottery Purchase Limit lets you set a maximum purchase limit on OLG.ca lottery products for daily, weekly or monthly periods.

If the limit is increased, the original limit stands until the end of the ‘cooling off’ period and every time this limit is increased the ‘cooling off’ period is extended by an additional 7 days. Decreasing your Limits will take effect immediately.

7. WHAT IS A SPORTS SPEND LIMIT?

Your Sports Spend Limit lets you set a maximum spend limit on OLG.ca sports betting products for daily, weekly or monthly periods.

If the limit is increased, the original limit stands until the end of the ‘cooling off’ period and every time this limit is increased the ‘cooling off’ period is extended by an additional 7 days. Decreasing your Limits will take effect immediately.

8. WHAT IS A PLAYING TIME REMINDER?

A Playing Time reminder allows you to set a reminder for a self-determined amount of time, that will notify you when you’ve spent that amount of time playing casino games on OLG.ca. It can be easy to lose track of time when you’re having fun, and a Playing Time Reminder can provide a helpful in-game prompt.

Your Playing Time will begin counting down when you start the first casino game of your session, and continues whether you start a new game, or simply view web pages. In other words, the Playing Time does not pause when you exit a game.

Although the time limit for a Playing Time Reminder will continue even if you’ve exited a casino game, you typically will not receive a notification that the timer has elapsed while you are outside a casino game or if you subsequently start a new casino game after the timer has elapsed.

Some casino games will provide you a prompt retroactively, but not all. To receive your Playing Time Reminder, you must be in a game when you reach your set time. Once received, you can decide to stop playing or continue.

9. HOW ARE TIME FRAMES CALCULATED IN MY PLAY CUSTOMIZER?

My Play Customizer allows you to set your Deposit, Lottery Purchase, Casino Loss, Casino Spend and Sports Spend Limit for daily, weekly and monthly intervals, as well as a Playing Time Reminder.

Each Deposit Limit refreshes on a rolling basis for a day, week, or month after each deposit, so that you can never deposit more than your limit:

  • Daily Deposit Limit = Refreshes 24 hours after deposit

  • Weekly Deposit Limit = Refreshes 168 hours after deposit

  • Monthly Deposit Limit = Refreshes 720 hours after deposit

For the Lottery Purchase, Casino Loss, Casino Spend and Sports Spend Limits, a day is 12:00 AM to 11:59:59 PM. Weekly and monthly durations refer to calendar weeks (Monday to Sunday) and calendar months..

The Playing Time Reminder is calculated over the course of a single login session—from the time you first launch a casino game, until you log out.

10. WHAT IS MY PLAY HISTORY?

My Play History provides you with information about your play patterns and behaviours to identify any habits that might be affecting your fun. This way, you can recognize changes in your play that might indicate that you’re at higher risk for developing a gambling problem.

11. WHAT IS MY PLAYBREAK?

My PlayBreak is a voluntary program that provides you with the opportunity to stop gambling on OLG for a length of time that you choose between one day to five years.

If you choose a break between one day to three months, you will not be able to log in or access any part of your account. Any lottery subscriptions and marketing emails will be temporarily paused.

If you choose to participate in a longer break from six months to five years, you commit to avoid logging on to OLG.ca for the duration of your PlayBreak term. When you take this step, your contact information is removed from all OLG marketing lists and any cash balance in your OLG.ca account is returned to you.

1. WONDERING WHY WE ARE ASKING FOR THE CITIZENSHIP? WHAT IS THIS INFORMATION USED FOR IF PROVIDED?

As per new FINTRAC regulations pertaining to record keeping, OLG must perform reasonable measures to obtain the additional information in the event that there is a reportable transaction(s) conducted by the Player.   The optional collection of these fields improves our compliance with the Proceeds of Crime Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing act and associated regulations.

2. Do you have to be Canadian to play?

You do not need to be Canadian to play, however you must be in the province of Ontario at the time of play. More information on how residents of other countries can claim prizes can be found here.

3. WHY DOES OLG NEED MY OCCUPATION INFORMATION?

OLG must comply with regulatory requirements of the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and the guidelines published by the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC) under the definition of Casino.

What needs to be collected?

OLG requires you to provide information regarding your job position as well as the nature of the business you are in.  The information needs to be descriptive and must accurately reflect what you do.  For example:  if you are a manager, the occupation recorded should reflect the area of management, such as “hotel reservations manager” or “retail clothing store manager.” The same is true when recording the nature of the business you are in. For example, in the case of a business in the field of sales, you would include the type of sales, such as “pharmaceutical sales”.

Here are a few other common scenarios to consider:

“Business Owner” is commonly too vague.  Entering a better description such as “Jewelry Store Owner” meets expectations.

Entries of “Retired”, “Student”, “Unemployed”, “Homemaker” are acceptable when additional information regarding your current situation is included (e.g. Retired Teacher)

Begin typing your job title in the field provided.  Thousands of options are available.

Choose the option that matches your job title or continue typing to complete the entry manually.

The Type of Business is free-form and can include a better description of the service or products related to your place of work.  You can also add the name of the business if that is easier.

4. WHEN MUST I PROVIDE MY OCCUPATION INFORMATION?

At any time, you can update your information within your profile otherwise, as a casino player, you will be prompted to enter this information prior to depositing funds, playing casino games or requesting a withdrawal.

5. WHAT HAPPENS IF I DON’T PROVIDE ENOUGH INFORMATION?

If your information is not adequate, we will delete the information and require you enter new information.  You may receive an email advising of this.  Depending on the circumstance, we may suspend access to your account until you can provide us with acceptable information.

6. WHAT IF I CHANGE OCCUPATIONS?

If you change occupations, you can simply edit your Profile settings and update your occupation and industry information.

7. I WORK THREE JOBS. WHICH ONE DO I LIST?

Select your most relevant occupation and industry.

8. Why is OLG asking me to confirm and acknowledge that my profile information is up-to-date?

Effective January 2022, FINTRAC regulations require that all Players attest that the information provided at the time of Registration is correct and up-to-date.

In order to meet this new regulation, a player must acknowledge and confirm that the following “mandatory” fields are up-to-date;

  1. First Name,
  2. Preferred Name,
  3. Last Name,
  4. Phone Number,
  5. Address,
  6. Occupation & Industry
  7. PEP/HIO attestation & disclosure
  8. Office/Position
  9. Name of organization
  10. Source of wealth

15. WHEN DID YOU START USING RANDOM NUMBER GENERATORS (RNG) INSTEAD OF BALL DRAWS FOR THE NATIONAL GAMES?

The lottery-draw process for LOTTO MAX and LOTTO 6/49 was modernized and simplified by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) in May 2019 to offer our players the best gaming and entertainment experience possible.

RNG draws are becoming more common for lottery draws worldwide and are often used for games with multiple draws that require results more quickly.

Draws for WHEEL OF FORTUNE, DAILY GRAND, the Guaranteed Prize draw feature of LOTTO 6/49 and the MAXMILLIONS feature of LOTTO MAX are also conducted using Random Number Generator software. It is also used for the INSTANT win component of POKER LOTTO and MEGADICE.

16. HOW DOES THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR METHOD WORK?

The ILC RNG system uses a proprietary algorithm to generate random numbers. The RNG used is independently tested and certified for its effectiveness in generating random results and its integrity. A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed by external auditors (Grant Thornton LLP).An additional external auditor performs a parallel draw from a separate geographical location (Deloitte).

17. HOW SECURE ARE RNG DRAWS?

Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) reviewed and tested the Random Number Generation (RNG) software that is used to conduct the RNG components of the LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY GRAND games and certifies that the RNG software exhibits random behavior and is suitable for the application of the lottery draws stated.

A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed (Grant Thornton LLP) and verified (Deloitte), by two external auditors, located in two separate geographical locations.

18. WHO IS THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIER FOR THE RNG TECHNOLOGY?

CHANGES AS OF OCTOBER 23, 2020

1. WHAT ARE THE GAME CONDITIONS CHANGES?

When the amount of the 7/7 ‘main’ pool for any given Lotto Max draw equals or exceeds $50,000,000, and a minimum number of Maxmillions prizes has been set for that draw, any Maxmillions prizes won will be funded by the 7/7 ‘main’ pool (prior to utilizing funding from the ILC MAXMILLIONS funding) when the 7/7 ‘main’ Lotto Max jackpot isn’t won.

2. WHY DID YOU WAIT SO LONG AFTER THE GAME ENHANCEMENT TO MAKE THIS CHANGE?

We wanted to observe any changes in sales trends as a result of the increase to two Lotto Max draws per week for at least one year prior to making any funding structure changes to the game. These changes allow for greater funding flexibility to pay out Maxmillions prizes.

3. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THESE CHANGES?

These changes are being made to allow for greater funding flexibility, following the May 2019 introduction of a second Lotto Max draw per week and, as a result, the increased frequency of jackpots of $50 million or higher and Maxmillions prizes. These game conditions changes will help ensure the long-term viability of the game, while providing jackpots and Maxmillions prizes in line with those that our players are familiar with, and expect.

LOTTO 6/49 GOLD BALL DRAWS

1. WHAT IS THE gold ball draw?

The Gold Ball Draw is the guaranteed win part of the game, whereby a player receives a unique 10-digit number with every $3 LOTTO 6/49 play at no extra cost. A winner is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday from all tickets issued across Canada.

2. WHAT IS THE gold ball JACKPOT draw?

An exciting feature of LOTTO 6/49 is the Gold Ball Jackpot Draw. This draw determines whether the Gold Ball Draw winner wins either the guaranteed $1 million prize or a multi-million-dollar jackpot that starts at $10 million and can grow up to a maximum of $68 million.

The Gold Ball Jackpot base draw starts with 30 balls (29 white and 1 gold). If a white ball is drawn, the Gold Ball winning ticket holder wins $1 million and that white ball is removed from the next draw (leaving 28 white balls and 1 gold ball) - $2 million is added to the next Gold Ball Jackpot Draw.  This process repeats for each subsequent draw until the Gold Ball is drawn.  Once the Gold Ball is drawn, the Gold Ball Jackpot resets to the $10 million base jackpot and starts again with 30 balls in the draw.

3. WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING THE gold ball DRAW?

The odds for the Gold Ball Draw are determined for each draw by the total number of selections issued across Canada. For example, if 5 million LOTTO 6/49 plays are issued, there would be 5 million selections for the $1 million Gold Ball Draw, which means the odds of any one selection being drawn would be 1 in 5 million.

4. WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING THE gold ball JACKPOT DRAW

The Gold Ball Jackpot Draw determines the value of the guaranteed Gold Ball Draw prize. The odds of the winning Gold Ball Number taking home the Gold Ball Jackpot are one in the total number of balls in the draw. On the first draw of the sequence, the odds of the winning selection winning the Gold Ball Jackpot are 1 in 30.  If the Gold Ball Jackpot is not won and continues to carry over, the odds will improve as one white ball is removed and the jackpot rolls over into a subsequent draw.

5. CAN YOU GUARANTEE THAT THE gold ball $1 MILLION GUARANTEED prize OR gOLD BALL jackpot DRAW prize WILL ALWAYS BE AWARDED?

No. While this part of the game guarantees a winning number will be drawn for each draw, a prize can only be awarded after a winning ticket is presented for validation and approved for payment. Most lottery prizes are claimed by customers – especially when the prize is $1 million or more – but there is always a possibility that a winning ticket might not be presented for payment or that the prize claim is not approved.

6. WHY DOES MY gold ball DRAW SELECTION ALWAYS START WITH A 4 OR A 5?

The first digit of the Gold Ball Draw selection identifies the region where the ticket was issued. All OLG selections begin with a 4 or 5, indicating that the ticket was issued in Ontario. No two Gold Ball Draw selections are the same for any given draw.

7. WHY CAN'T I CHOOSE MY OWN gold ball DRAW SELECTION?

To ensure there is only one winning Gold Ball Draw selection, every selection must be unique.  If customers were to choose their own selections, there would always be the possibility that two players could have the same winning Gold Ball Draw selection and would therefore have to split the prize.

8. I PURCHASED MULTIPLE LOTTO 6/49 PLAYS ON THE SAME TICKET, BUT IT LOOKS LIKE I’VE ONLY GOT TWO gold ball DRAW SELECTIONS. WHY ARE THERE NOT MORE SELECTIONS FOR THE gold ball DRAW?

Whenever a LOTTO 6/49 ticket is issued with three or more plays, the Gold Ball Draw selections appear as a range.

For example, if you purchased a 5-number combination, you receive 44 LOTTO 6/49 regular selections and 44 Gold Ball Draw Selections.

The Gold Ball Draw selections on your ticket would appear as:

FROM:          12345678-01

TO:                12345678-44

9. DO I GET A DIFFERENT gold ball DRAW SELECTION FOR EACH DRAW INCLUDED IN AN ADVANCE PLAY PURCHASE?

As with the regular selections for the Classic Draw, with an Advance Play purchase you will have the same Gold Ball Draw selections entered into each Gold Ball Draw that is included in your Advance Play purchase.  Each draw is an independent, random draw and so there is no effect on your odds of winning the Gold Ball Draw – the odds on each draw are always dependent on the number of selections issued for that draw.

10. HOW ARE LOTTO 6/49 CLASSIc DRAWS and Gold ball Draws CONDUCTED?

LOTTO 6/49 Classic Draws are held every Wednesday and Saturday by the Interprovincial Lottery Corporation (ILC) and are conducted using Random Number Generator (RNG) technology that has been independently tested and certified by an internationally recognized and accredited tester. The Gold Ball Draw and Gold Ball Jackpot Draw are also conducted using RNG. More information on RNG draws can be found below.

RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR

2. HOW DOES THE RANDOM NUMBER GENERATOR METHOD WORK?

The ILC RNG system uses a proprietary algorithm to generate random numbers. The RNG used is independently tested and certified for its effectiveness in generating random results and its integrity. A number of checks and balances are performed to ensure draw security and are witnessed by external auditors (Grant Thornton LLP). An additional external auditor performs a parallel draw from a separate geographical location (Deloitte).

4. WHO IS THE INDEPENDENT CERTIFIER FOR THE RNG TECHNOLOGY?

Gaming Laboratories International, LLC (GLI) reviewed and tested the RNG software that is used to conduct components of LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY GRAND draws. GLI certifies that the RNG software exhibits random behavior.

5. ARE YOU ABLE TO WATCH RNG DRAWS? ARE THEY AVAILABLE ON THE WEBSITE?

6. WHY AREN’T THE ENCORE NUMBERS INCLUDED AT THE END OF THE ANIMATED DRAW VIDEOS?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO is an exciting Ontario-only daily lotto game from OLG based on the popular television game show theme. It offers players two exciting chances to win with one ticket. With WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO, players can win INSTANTLY while watching the animated spin of the wheel on the customer display unit at retail and also have a chance to win with the nightly Lotto Word Draw, all for $2. Each $2 Quick Pick randomly generates one animated "spin" of the INSTANT Prize Wheel. If the spin stops on a winning wheel sector, the player INSTANTLY wins the corresponding prize. Players can win up to $10,000 on the INSTANT game. Each $2 Quick Pick also gives players a chance to win in the nightly Lotto Word Draw. Players can win up to $100,000 on the lotto portion by matching three or more Lotto Words on their ticket with the six Lotto Words drawn (from a pool of 39) nightly. The list of 39 words for the Lotto Word Draw may change from time to time and will always fall into a general category. For example, the "Canadian Things" category includes the words "hockey," "maple" and "toque." Both the INSTANT and lotto portions of the game have their own distinct prize structure.

2. HOW IS WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO PLAYED AND HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO can be purchased at any OLG retailer for $2. Each $2 Quick Pick randomly generates one animated "spin" of the INSTANT Prize Wheel on the customer display unit. Both the INSTANT and lotto portions of the game have their own distinct prize structure. The WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO Word Draw is conducted by a random number generator that selects six winning Lotto Words from a pool of thirty-nine in place of traditional lottery numbers. You must pay your retailer before your ticket can be printed.

3. WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING?

The overall odds of winning any prize (INSTANT or lotto) with WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO are 1 in 2.5. The overall odds of winning a prize on the INSTANT win game are 1 in 2.8 and the overall odds of winning the top INSTANT prize of $10,000 are 1 in 296,602.1. The overall odds of winning a prize on the nightly Lotto Word Draw are 1 in 27.83 and the odds of winning the top prize of $100,000 on the Lotto Word Draw are 1 in 3,262,623.

4. IS MY SPIN VALID FOR THE NIGHTLY DRAW AS WELL?

No. Your spin of the INSTANT Prize Wheel is valid only for the INSTANT portion of the WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO game. To win on the Lotto Word Draw portion of the ticket, you must match three or more Lotto Words printed below the wheel on your ticket with the Lotto Words drawn nightly. If you match the correct number of Lotto Words for one of the draw prize categories, you win the corresponding prize as per the prize structure. Players can win in only one lotto prize category per draw.

5. WHY IS THE INSTANT WIN PAYOUT HIGHER THAN THE LOTTO WIN PAYOUT?

The INSTANT win portion of WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO offers players more ways to win. WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO is essentially two games in one and while each has its own individual payout, please remember the overall payout for the game is approximately 58.68 per cent.

6. WHY DO YOU USE LOTTO WORDS FOR THE NIGHTLY LOTTO WORD DRAW INSTEAD OF NUMBERS LIKE MOST GAMES?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO is a different game with a different way to play than other lotteries. We are always looking for ways to improve our games and enhance the player experience. As the game's theme is based on the popular television game show that uses word puzzles, Lotto Words were selected to create winning combinations instead of numbers. This is similar to POKER LOTTO, which uses card symbols instead of numbers for the nightly draw.

7. HOW ARE THE LOTTO WORD CATEGORIES AND WORDS THAT YOU USE FOR WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO CHOSEN?

The Lotto Word categories were chosen based on consumer preference identified in research and many reference categories used on the actual game show.

8. DOES THE LENGTH OF THE LOTTO WORDS ON MY TICKET IN THE POOL HAVE AN IMPACT ON THE ODDS OF WINNING?

No. Each word in the pool has an equal chance of 1 in 39 of being drawn.

9. IS THE $100,000 TOP PRIZE ON THE LOTTO WORD DRAW SHARED AMONG WINNING TICKETS?

Prizes on the draw portion of WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO are for set amounts and are not divided among all the winners in a prize category. There is an overall limit of $2 million that can be won on any given draw. In the unlikely event that the daily draw limit of $2 million is exceeded, prizes for all winners would be proportionally reduced.

10. WHY IS THE LOTTO WORD DRAW CONDUCTED USING RNG?

The words in any given category vary in length from two to 10 letters. It would be difficult to print longer words like "toboggan" and "snowmobile" in a font large enough to be read clearly while still fitting on the lotto ball. Also, similar words in a category like "holly" and "jolly" could be confused for each other depending on the size of font and print clarity. The list of 39 words may change from time to time as well and using a random number generator to conduct the draws will help to minimize any chance for confusion regarding the winning Lotto Words.

11. CAN I SELECT MY OWN WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO WORDS?

WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO can be played only by Quick Pick. There are no selection slips for this game. There is also no repurchase option on WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO.

12. CAN PLAYERS PURCHASE ENCORE WITH THEIR WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO TICKETS?

ENCORE is not available for purchase with WHEEL OF FORTUNE®.

13. WHY ISN'T ENCORE AVAILABLE WITH WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO?

ENCORE is not available for any OLG Watch N' Win games including POKER LOTTO and MEGADICE LOTTO.

14. WHY CAN I BUY ONLY ONE PLAY PER TICKET?

Watch N' Win games are limited to an eight-second animation that appears on the screen. Unlike POKER LOTTO and MEGADICE LOTTO where multiple hands and rolls can be displayed in the animation, only one INSTANT Prize Wheel spin can be shown at a time.

15. IS ADVANCE PLAY AVAILABLE ON WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO?

Advance Play is not available on WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO. Customers can play only one draw at a time.

16. WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY FOR MY WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO TICKET BEFORE IT IS GIVEN TO ME?

As WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO features an INSTANT win component, customers must pay for each ticket before the retailer can process the transaction and give the ticket to the customer.

17. CAN I CANCEL MY TICKET IF I DON'T WANT IT ANYMORE?

As WHEEL OF FORTUNE® LOTTO offers customers a chance to win INSTANTLY, retailers are not able to cancel a ticket once it has been paid for and printed out of the terminal.

More details about our PICK-4 LOTTO.

1. WHAT IS PICK-4?

PICK-4 is a daily draw lottery game that gives players a chance to play four of their favourite numbers, ranging from 0 to 9, either by Straight Play or Box Play.

2. HOW MUCH DOES A PICK-4 TICKET COST AND HOW DO YOU PLAY?

PICK-4 tickets cost $1 for each four number combination. Players can select any four-digit number from 0000 to 9999 by selection slip or by asking for a QUICK PICK.

3. WHAT IS STRAIGHT PLAY AND BOX PLAY?

Straight Play is matching all four digits in the exact order (e.g. 1234). A number with the same 4 digits (e.g. 2222) can be played only as a Straight Play. For Box Play, the digits you select determine which Box Play prize category you are eligible for (4-Way, 6-Way, 12-Way or 24-Way Box Play) Only one Box Play type will apply per draw. Box Play can be won four different ways:

4 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where 3 of the digits are the same (e.g. 1112)
6 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where two sets of digits are the same (e.g. 1122)
12 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where 2 of the digits are the same (e.g. 1123)
24 Way Box - Match all 4 digits in any order, where all 4 digits are different (eg.1234)

4. HOW DOES BOX PLAY WORK?

Box Play gives players the chance to match their four favourite numbers, or QUICK PICK selections, in many ways. For example, if three of the four digits played are the same (eg.1112), the numbers can be combined in four unique ways (eg.1112, 1121, 1211, 2111) This creates a 4-Way Box Play. Similarly, a 6-Way Box Play (2 sets of digits the same e.g. 1122), combines the numbers in six unique ways, a 12-Way Box Play (2 digits the same e.g. 1123) combines the numbers in twelve unique ways and a 24 Way Box Play (4 different digits e.g. 1234) combines the numbers in 24 unique ways. The fewer the possible number of combinations, the greater the prize. Only one Box Play type applies per draw (Refer to PICK-4 Fact Sheet prize structure for more information.)

5. WHAT IS THE TOP PRIZE AND WHAT ARE THE ODDS OF WINNING?

[prize structure chart]

6. HOW MANY SETS OF FOUR NUMBERS CAN I PLAY AT ONCE?

You can play up to five sets of four numbers on each ticket, whether by QUICK PICK or selection slip, and can play up to 10 draws in advance.

7. WHAT PERCENT OF PICK-4 SALES ARE AWARDED AS PRIZES?

PICK-4 is expected to pay approximately 50% of sales to players.

8. IS THERE ANY LIMIT ON THE NUMBERS I CAN PLAY?

For liability purposes, there are limits to how many unique number selections can be purchased for each draw. OLG will suspend Straight Play and Box Play PICK-4 wagering for any 4-digit number that has exceeded a total potential prize liability of $1 million for any given draw. Wagering will continue to be available for all other Box Play combinations of the suspended number, provided said numbers have not individually exceeded the $1 million total liability limit for Box Play and Straight Play.

9. Can I set up a subscription with PICK-4?

Yes, a subscription for PICK-4 is available through OLG.ca or on the OLG App for Multi Draw and Never Miss a Draw. Subscription tickets are purchased between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m. after the Midday Draw and between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. the day following the Evening Draw. If your number selection has reached the liability limit before your ticket is purchased, no ticket will be purchased and your subscription will skip that draw. ENCORE is an add-on lottery game that can be played with a host lottery game such as LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, DAILY GRAND, ONTARIO 49, LOTTARIO, PICK-2, PICK-3, PICK-4 and DAILY KENO.

2. HOW MUCH DOES IT COST AND WHAT ARE THE PRIZES?

For $1 per play, ENCORE offers players an extra chance to win up to an additional $1 million on their ticket. There are 22 ways to win with ENCORE – win by matching your ENCORE numbers from right to left or left to right.

3. HOW MANY COMBINATIONS OF NUMBERS ARE AVAILABLE WITH ENCORE?

There are 10 million ENCORE combinations from 0000000 to 9999999. When a player says "Yes" to ENCORE, a seven-digit number is randomly selected to be printed on the ticket. Numbers will start to repeat after all 10 million possible combinations are sold.

4. IS THERE A SEPARATE ENCORE PRIZE STRUCTURE FOR EACH HOST GAME?

There is ONE prize structure that applies to all ENCORE purchases for any draw date. There are two ENCORE numbers drawn daily – one for the MIDDAY draw games and one for the EVENING draw games. The ENCORE number drawn applies to all host games for the same draw period. For example, if a player purchases a LOTTO 6/49 with ENCORE, ONTARIO 49 with ENCORE and PICK-3 with ENCORE for a Saturday night draw, the one ENCORE number drawn on that Saturday night will apply to all of these ENCORE purchases.

The number of advance ENCORE draws purchased must be the same as the number of host game draws purchased (e.g., if a player buys a five-draw LOTTO 6/49 Advance Play and also wants ENCORE, then the player must purchase at least one ENCORE selection for each of the five host game draws).

With INSTANT TOP UP, if you win a Free Play, your retailer will ask you if you want to play the Free Play right away or save it until later.

If you want to redeem it right away, you just need to tell the retailer. They will have the lottery terminal automatically validate the prize. Your original ticket and the Customer Receipt will print together, and the Free Play will play out on the lottery terminal screen as the new ticket prints. When it’s done, be sure to collect both your original ticket and your new ticket from the retailer.

If you decide you’d like to save the INSTANT TOP UP prize for another time, again, just tell the retailer, and they will print your ticket to redeem at a later time. You’ll need to sign the ticket before you present it for redemption at retail.
