ABOUT SELF-SERVE LOTTERY
A self-serve lottery terminal is a machine that sells lottery tickets using a secure self-checkout process. Self-serve lottery provides customers with a convenient way to buy, check, and redeem lottery tickets while still ensuring they can play responsibly.
Self-serve lottery terminals have a customer-friendly interface and a Help screen to guide customers throughout the entire process. The basic steps are:
- Touch screen to start;
- Scan your ID;
- Pay through the checkout option.
If you want to pay for your lottery purchase with winnings from another ticket, select “Pay with Winnings” at checkout and scan your winning ticket to redeem it to use the prize amount toward your cart.

For self-serve lottery, customers can scan valid Ontario Driver’s Licences and Ontario Photo ID cards (as well as other North American Drivers’ Licences) for age verification.
No customer information is stored when scanning.
Yes, the self-serve lottery terminal touch screen includes game information icons that customers can select to learn more about the games available for sale.
No, the new self-serve lottery terminals will not replace existing lottery terminals or INSTANT ticket trays at current lottery retailers. They add to the retail experience by providing another convenient option for customers.
Anyone under 18 years old is restricted from participating in an OLG lottery, including purchasing, checking and redeeming a lottery ticket. To use a self-serve lottery terminal, an ID scan is required to verify the player is over the age of 18.
TICKETS AND REDEEMPTIONS
Select INSTANT tickets (e.g. CROSSWORD, BINGO, etc.) and draw-based lottery tickets (e.g. LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49, LOTTARIO, etc.) are sold on self-serve lottery terminals.
Sports products, LIGHTNING LOTTO and WATCH 'N WIN games (POKER LOTTO, POWERBUCKS WATCH N’ WIN, MEGADICE LOTTO) are currently not available on self-serve lottery.
Yes, you can check and redeem your ticket on a self-serve lottery terminal by scanning it where indicated. A message will appear on screen, informing you of the results of the ticket, and asking if you want to redeem winnings (up to $300, if applicable).
Once you’ve added tickets to your purchase basket, you can apply winnings toward that purchase (some restrictions apply).
Most draw based games (e.g. LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49) and INSTANT tickets (e.g. BINGO, CROSSWORD, etc.) can be checked on a self-serve lottery terminal.
Sports tickets, QUICKTICKET, Gift Cards or e-coupons are not supported at this time.
Most draw-based games (e.g. LOTTO MAX, LOTTO 6/49), INSTANT tickets (e.g. BINGO, CROSSWORD, etc.) and paper coupons can be redeemed on a self-serve lottery terminal.
At this time, the following cannot be redeemed at a self-serve lottery terminal:
- Winning tickets with prizes over $300
- PROLINE tickets
- QUICKTICKET products
- Gift Cards
- Watch 'N Win Free Play prizes
- Free Play prizes exceeding five (5) Free Plays
- Merchandise prizes
- eCoupons
Yes. Winning lottery and INSTANT/SCRATCH tickets with a prize value of up to $300 can be redeemed at a self-serve lottery terminal. Prizes over $300 must be redeemed at a lottery terminal or through the OLG Prize Centre.
Please note that the total value of tickets redeemed must be less than or equal to your cart total. No cash or credit will be issued for any unused balance.
PAYMENT OPTIONS
You can pay for purchases on self-serve lottery using winnings from your ticket redemptions (some restrictions apply), or by debit or credit cards. This includes debit and credit cards stored in Google Wallet and Apple Pay. Cash transactions are not available.
The self-serve lottery terminal limits the value of tickets a player can purchase or redeem in a single session to $300.00.
Yes. After you finish scanning your winning lottery tickets to redeem for payment on the self-serve lottery terminal, you can return to your cart and have the option to pay for any remaining balance on your purchase with debit or credit.
Yes. After you successfully scan a winning lottery ticket to redeem it for payment on the self-serve lottery terminal, you will be prompted to either scan another ticket or exit. Once you have finished redeeming all eligible tickets, you can complete the checkout process.
