National Indigenous Peoples Day
NATIONAL INDIGENOUS HISTORY MONTH
June is National Indigenous History Month, a time for all Canadians to reflect on the sacrifices, contributions, and strength of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Together, we recognize their resilience in withstanding the impacts of colonization.
NATIONAL INDIGENOUS PEOPLES DAY
June 21 is also a special day dedicated to celebrating and amplifying the rich contributions of Indigenous peoples. The date coincides with the summer solstice, a culturally significant occasion as many communities gather to conduct ceremonies that celebrate the beginning of summer and the awakening of beauty in the natural world.
OLG is committed to building collaborative relationships with our Indigenous partners across Ontario to advance the principles of Truth and Reconciliation. Celebrating National Indigenous History Month and National Indigenous Peoples Day is one step OLG is taking to demonstrate our commitment.

ABOUT OLG’S INDIGENOUS HISTORY MONTH LOGO
We are proud to honour our longstanding relationship with Indigenous communities across Ontario with a commemorative logo designed by Indigenous artist, Preston Buffalo. The logo draws on the “Star Blanket” design, which holds significance for many nations and tribes across Turtle Island. The qualities most prominently featured in the logo design are care, honour, and generosity, which complement OLG’s characteristics of trust, integrity, and our contributions to Ontario.
