TORONTO, ON – Saying “yes” to ENCORE paid off for Evalin G. of Naughton. She matched all seven ENCORE numbers in exact order in the September 6, 2023 LOTTO 6/49 draw to win $1 million!
Evalin, a wife, mother and grandmother, said she’s been a regular lottery player for the last 20 years. She ensures she always has tickets for LOTTO 6/49, LOTTO MAX and DAILY GRAND and always says yes to ENCORE. “I bought this ticket two days after my 46th wedding anniversary. I was having breakfast with my husband when I checked my ticket on my phone and saw the big winner screen,” she shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to pick up her winnings.
Evalin showed the screen to her husband, and he thought she won $1,000 at first. “He was thrilled about $1,000 – when I took a second look, I realized there were additional zeroes and screamed ‘Oh my god, it’s a million dollars!’ My husband almost jumped across the table in excitement.”
There were moments when Evalin said her body felt frozen with shock. “We kept rationalizing the amount together and then told our kids. It was so much joy telling them and seeing their reactions,” she recalled.
Evalin and her husband plan to retire and are thrilled to share their winnings with their grandchildren. “We’re music lovers, so we have lots of plans to enjoy concerts together. We’re planning to host a big celebratory party for all our loved ones to commemorate this incredible win,” she smiled.
“This feels like a wedding, Christmas and a birthday all in one!” she concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Mac’s on Front Street in Sturgeon Falls.
