George said he’s been playing the lottery since the lottery started and thought twice about purchasing a ticket for $10. “Then I figured, you only live once. And this ticket went on to win the top prize,” he shared while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
When George arrived at the Prize Centre to spin the wheel, he said he felt relaxed. “The wheel was much lighter than I imagined. I gave it all I got, and the wheel was good to me,” he smiled. “I felt frozen as I watched the wheel spin and was tingling when I saw it land on $800,000. It must have been my wallet excited for the money,” he laughed.
George said he was hoping for a win between $550,000 and $650,000 but wasn’t expecting this much. “I’ve never seen a cheque made out to me for $800,000 in my life. That’s a lot of money,” he said.
The great-grandfather is planning on completing some home renovations, sharing his win with family, and friends who he’s chosen as family, and supporting his Ukrainian heritage. “I would like to support the Ukrainians who have been deployed by the war. I will take some time to figure out the best way to do that,” he concluded.
