Basic Bet Types

WIN

This is the easiest and most popular bet. You collect money if your horse is the winner of the race.

PLACE

This is when you bet on a horse to finish first or second. If your horse comes in either of those spots, you collect money and are in the Winner’s Circle.

SHOW

A SHOW bet means you’re betting on your horse to finish first, second, or third. As long as they land in the top three, you win!

WIN PLACE SHOW (WPS)

Combinations of these three basic bets – WIN, PLACE, and SHOW – called a “WIN PLACE SHOW” or WPS as also available. It's like placing three separate bets on the same horse to finish first, second, or third. The better your horse finishes, the more you can win!

EXOTIC BETS

Exotic bets are a little trickier than your basic WIN, PLACE, or SHOW wagers – but with greater risk comes greater reward. These bets require you to pick more than one horse correctly, either in the same race or across multiple positions.

EXACTA

An EXACTA bet means you're predicting the top two finishers in exact order. If you bet on Horse #4 to win and Horse #7 to come second, they have to finish in that exact sequence for you to cash in.

SWINGER

Also known as a “combo bet,” the SWINGER has you pick two horses to finish in the top three – in any order. If both horses hit the board (1st, 2nd, or 3rd), you’re in the money!

QUINELLA

Similar to an EXACTA, but more forgiving. You’re picking two horses to finish first and second in either order. As long as your pair goes 1-2, you win.

TRIFECTA

This one’s all about precision – choose the top three finishers in exact order. Nail it, and you’ll feel like a trackside legend.

SUPERFECTA

Up for a challenge? Try predicting the first four finishers in exact order. It’s tough to hit, but the payouts can be big.

SUPER HI-5 (HI-5)

The ultimate test of your handicapping skills – pick the top five finishers in the exact order. If you hit this, it’s time to treat yourself to a fancy hat and a champagne toast.

MULTI-RACE BETS

Multi-race bets require you to correctly predict the winners of multiple races in a row. These bets can stretch your dollars further and build the suspense across the card.

DAILY DOUBLE

Pick the winners of two consecutive races – usually the first two or last two on the card. Get both right and you double down on your winnings.

PICK 3 / PICK 4 / PICK 5+

Think of it like a parlay for horse racing. You’re picking the winners of 3, 4, or 5 (or more) races in a row. The more legs you add, the bigger the potential payout – but you’ll need to be perfect.

GRAND SLAM

A unique twist: In four consecutive races, your picks need to finish in the top 3 for the first three races, then win the fourth. It’s like warming up with consistent plays before going all in at the end.

Building your bet is easy, and it can be done in 5 simple steps:

Horse, Driver & Jockey Information

New to horse racing? No worries—here’s how to read the wagering card like a pro:

Race Number

Shows which race you're looking at. Most race days have multiple races, so make sure you're on the right one!

Minutes to Race

This is the countdown clock. It tells you how much time is left before the race starts—perfect for getting your bets in before the action begins.

Racetrack Name

Tells you where the race is taking place. Tracks can have different styles and competition levels, so it’s good to know where your horse is running.

Position Number (Post Position)

This is the number of the gate your horse will start from.

Driver or Jockey Info

Shows who's riding (or driving) the horse.

Horse Name

The star of the show! This is the horse you’ll be cheering for.

Last 6 Starts

A snapshot of how the horse has performed in its last six races.

Odds

Think of odds as your horse’s winning forecast—lower means favoured, higher means riskier but with a bigger reward!

Trainer Info

The behind-the-scenes expert who gets the horse race-ready.
