GOLD BALL DRAW
Each $3 LOTTO 6/49 play includes a unique 10-digit Gold Ball Draw Number in addition to your six Classic Draw Numbers.
One Gold Ball Draw winning number will be drawn from all selections for each draw.
Once a Gold Ball Draw winning number is drawn, a separate Gold Ball Jackpot Draw will determine the prize - the Gold Ball Jackpot OR a $1 million prize.
GOLD BALL JACKPOT DRAW
The Gold Ball Jackpot starts at $10 million and can grow to $68 Million!
It starts with 30 balls – 29 white balls each representing a $1 million prize and 1 Gold Ball representing the growing jackpot.
If a white ball is drawn, a $1 million prize is won. That ball is removed leaving 28 white balls and 1 gold ball for the next draw, and the jackpot grows by $2 million.
Draws continue in this manner until the Gold Ball is drawn and the jackpot is won.
Once the Gold Ball Jackpot is won, the draw resets to 30 balls and the jackpot starts back at $10 million.
If the Gold Ball Jackpot keeps growing until no white balls remain and only the Gold Ball is left – the jackpot can reach $68 million!

(2) If there is no winning selection in any one or more of the 6/6, 5/6+, 5/6 or 4/6 categories of a Classic Draw, the amount of the Prize or the Pool, as applicable, for each of those said categories for which there is no winning selection for that draw will be allocated to the funding of prizes for subsequent Classic Draws and/or Gold Ball Jackpot Draws, at ILC’s discretion.
(3) “Share of $5,000,000” means an amount calculated by dividing $5,000,000 by the number of winning selections in the 6/6 category.
(4) “Share of Pool” means, with reference to each category of winning selections in the 5/6+, 5/6 and 4/6 categories, an amount calculated by dividing the dollar amount of the Pool, for that category, by the number of winning selections in that category.

The odds for the holder(s) of the ticket bearing the winning Gold Ball Draw Number of winning the Gold Ball Jackpot depends on the number of prize balls available for that Gold Ball Jackpot Draw. For example, if there are 30 prize balls available for the draw, the odds of winning the Gold Ball Jackpot are 1 in 30. If there are 2 prize balls available for the draw, the odds of winning the Gold Ball Jackpot are 1 in 2.

The Gold Ball Draw is the guaranteed win part of the game, whereby a player receives a unique 10-digit number with every $3 LOTTO 6/49 play at no extra cost. A winner is drawn every Wednesday and Saturday from all tickets issued across Canada.
An exciting feature of LOTTO 6/49, the Gold Ball Jackpot Draw determines whether the Gold Ball Draw winner wins either a $1 million prize or a multimillion-dollar jackpot that starts at $10 million and can grow up to a maximum of $68 million.
The Gold Ball Jackpot base draw starts with 30 balls (29 white and 1 gold). If a white ball is drawn, the Gold Ball winning ticket holder wins $1 million and that white ball is removed from the next draw (leaving 28 white balls and 1 gold ball) - $2 million is added to the next Gold Ball Jackpot Draw. This process repeats for each subsequent draw until the Gold Ball is drawn. Once the Gold Ball is drawn, the Gold Ball Jackpot resets to the $10 million base jackpot and starts again with 30 balls in the draw.
The odds for the Gold Ball Draw are determined for each draw by the total number of selections issued across Canada. For example, if 5 million LOTTO 6/49 plays are issued, there would be 5 million selections for the Gold Ball Draw, which means the odds of any one selection being drawn would be 1 in 5 million.
The Gold Ball Jackpot Draw determines the value of the guaranteed Gold Ball Draw prize. The odds of the winning Gold Ball Number taking home the Gold Ball Jackpot are one in the total number of balls in the draw. On the first draw of the sequence, the odds of the winning selection winning the Gold Ball Jackpot are 1 in 30. If the Gold Ball Jackpot is not won and continues to carry over, the odds will improve as one white ball is removed and the jackpot rolls over into a subsequent draw.
To ensure there is only one winning Gold Ball Draw selection, every selection must be unique. If customers were to choose their own selections, there would always be the possibility that two players could have the same winning Gold Ball Draw selection and would therefore have to split the prize.
